We’re just hours away from the long WWDC 2023 event Apple May Change “Hey Siri” at WWDC 2023. It has the potential to be one of the most important events for Apple in a long time. From the highly anticipated Mixed Reality title to the latest OS update for MacBooks, there’s a lot to look forward to. And now Apple looks ready to announce some changes to Siri. Check the details below.
“Hey Siri” will soon be history!
According to Mark Gurman, Apple will simplify the way we interact with Siri on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and HomePod. After that, instead of saying “Hey Siri”, we can interact with Apple’s virtual assistant by saying “Siri” and then giving commands. Gürman shared the same information again in November 2022.
So for example, to get the weather update, we must first wake up Siri with the phrase “Hey Siri” or by long pressing the power button. But then “How’s the weather today?
From a user perspective, this may seem like a minor change, but Gurman believes making this change “is a challenge that requires significant AI training and substantial work.” Apple’s efforts continue to improve Siri’s accuracy and functionality. It can also help Siri better understand different words and phrases, as it now only needs one word to activate the virtual assistant.
Gürman believes that with this change, Apple can bring back the reactions of Siri. By removing the “Hey” in “Hey Siri,” Apple would also, in turn, speed up back-to-back requests. The company has recently made a few other tweaks to Siri, including redesigning the interface on the Apple TV as part of tvOS 16.1.
The change will also depend on Amazon’s Alexa, which only needs “Alexa” instead of “Hey Alexa” to translate the word. If you remember, Cortana left a similar change in 2018.
Having said that, we’ll have to wait for tonight’s event to get a better idea. We’ll keep you posted, so keep following this site!
